What is Pelvic Health Occupational Therapy (OT)?
An occupational therapist guides clients in finding more ease and satisfaction in daily life. A pelvic health occupational therapist has specialized training in assessment and treatment of various pelvic conditions and life transitions.
As an occupational therapist, our education spans multiple disciplines related to the human experience. Topics include:
The physical body, including the bones, joints, and muscles
How the body moves across the lifespan
How varying levels of physical ability impacts engagement in daily tasks
Mental health and how it impacts daily life
Cognition across the lifespan
How to modify daily activities to make them more doable and sustainable
How these various human factors interact to form a person’s experience
To put it simply—we notice and consider a lot! The OT perspective is always holistic, including evaluation of psychosocial and cultural contexts in addition to a thorough consideration of the physical body.
